18 Students, 100 Days, 1 Survivor
Survivor: Michigan was originally inspired by Survivor: Maryland. We cast around 18 students each season for a competition of a life-time. Each season lasts for a school semester (around 100 days) and results in a sole survivor. The format is similar to that of CBS Survivor with immunity challenges, tribal councils, and plenty of drama.
Pre-Production
Applicants must attend the University of Michigan (grad or undergrad). Applications for Season 8 (Fall 2021 season) will open soon! The casting process includes an application and, if selected, an interview. After the interview there will be another round of cuts before the final cast is determined.
What We Do
Production
During the game, contestants have consistently scheduled confessionals with producers and also film confessionals on their own. Immunity challenges and tribal councils are filmed by our production team. In all, pretty much every interaction between contestants is filmed.
Post-Production
After the conclusion of each season, the editing team puts in a lot of work to create the episodes that ultimately make up a complete season. These episodes are released weekly starting from the premiere date and can be watched on the Survivor Michigan YouTube channel.
